I know many of you have a love/hate relationship with the Jetpack plug-in for WordPress. For those of you who are not familiar with it, Jetpack is a free plug-in that offers some cool features that help to:
Increase your traffic
View your stats (LOVE them, I check them daily – it shows how many hits, what links were clicked and who your top traffic sources are)
Speed up your site
Protect yourself from hackers
I just updated the plug-in and needed to re-connect it to my WordPress blog and as I was scrolling, I noticed this new feature – it will make it “snow” on your blog. I know, I know….it’s the little things that get me excited for the holidays. If you have the plug-in installed on your back-end, this is how you activate that feature. First go to the Jetpack plug-in on your dashboard. Mine added itself to the top, left hand side of my dashboard and click the “settings” link (mine shows bold in the photos below, so you know that’s what is active). From there click on the “Apprearance” tab at the top of the settings dialog box. The tabs are located underneath the Jetpack logo and “Appearance” is the fourth from the left. Scroll all the way down and you will see a feature called “Holiday Snow” (see the second photo below).
When you turn it on – it will snow on all of your open blog posts until January 3rd. Silly, but sweet. Just in case you live in a part of the world that won’t see snow for Christmas, now you can have a little bit of a white Christmas. Enjoy!
